House of Travel Series Round 1 @ Paradise Valley Raceway

After a couple of meetings that have depleted the stocks of spare parts it was great to finally finish three races with no damage and eighth equal on points out of 42 cars in the opening round House of Travel series. With the huge field of cars turning up we once again did the four race format with each driver only racing in three heats and only the top 10 place getters receiving points.

Race 1

Fastest Lap: 8 0:18.8049

We started from p5 on the grid and although making a good start we dropped down a few places to 11th spot until the track started to dry out and we came home strong picking our way back through the pack to 5th where we started, not quite as good as we hoped but we got some good points to start the night.

Race 3

Fastest Lap: 11 0:18.8017

Starting from p22 we had to push hard and with the track slicking off big time we had to drive the car as straight as possible and keep in tight to make some ground on the field. There was plenty of carnage out there and surprisingly we managed to keep out of it and pick our way through to p12 by the end of the race. No points but a good race that had numerous cars either up the wall or on their lids.

Race 4

Fastest Lap: 10 0:18.5159

P20 for the final race of the night and we needed a good result to at least get in the points as we currently only had 6 points. We were actively trying to match the car to the track conditions as it was now very slick out there. With a good start we made up 5 spots on the first lap and continued our way up the field avoiding the attentions of some of the locals and the few out of towners who ventured into our paradise for the night. We had a good race-long battle with Ray Channing in the impressive looking and sounding f.f.f.f.ford v8 and came home in 6th place, just ahead of the ford (NULLw it should be), to move up 14 spots and pick up another 5 points which was a great result to finish the night.

This weekend will be a weekend off to repair a couple of front axles, trailing arms and wheels to restock the spares department with just 26 days until the Speedy Signs NZ Stockcar champs.... bring it on!!

Next meeting is the 2nd round of the House of Travel series on dec 10

See you there
